This was an assignment for my Typography class, where we explored the importance of type in graphic design. Semantic typography is where the designer creates a piece that illustrates the word's meaning.

For my assignment, I chose the word "lollipop." I sketched the original idea utilizing the crossbars on the capital letter "I" to replicate the ledge on Dum-Dums. I wanted this piece to be childish and fun to observe to imitate the feelings associated with lollipops. I also created a difference in value to create interest in a plane that is otherwise two-dimensional. I learned the meaning of semantic typography during this project and the best way to create a dynamic, interactive piece.
